Experience

Clinical

I started my clinical career as a milieu therapist at the Emily Program’s Anna Westin House in St. Paul, Minnesota. This experience providing clinical care for people with severe eating disorders was interesting and frustrating- driving me to pursue a career aimed at improving our understanding and care for eating disorders and other related forms of psychological distress. My graduate training emphasized cognitive-behavioral approaches to understanding and treating mood, anxiety, and eating disorders. I have experience working with adults, children, and teens in outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential, and inpatient treatment settings.

For the last two years, I was a Clinical and Sport Psychologist and Eating Disorder Care Coordinator for the University of Utah Athletics Department in Salt Lake City, Utah. I provided mental performance enhancement and mental health care for the Men’s and Women’s Swim teams, Women’s Track and Cross-Country team, and Men’s and Women’s Alpine and Nordic Ski teams. I am currently a contracted Psychologist with the University of Utah Athletics Department.

Research, Outreach, and Advocacy

I am also passionate about producing and consuming scientific research. I have authored several peer-reviewed publications aimed at understanding factors that impact eating disorder treatment and assessing problematic eating and exercise behaviors. My work has been featured on NPR.

I am also committed to providing education and outreach related to mental health and eating disorders. I have presented for coaches, community members, parents, students, and clinicians in the Salt Lake Area and have presented my research at local, national, and international venues.

In my role as Eating Disorder Care Coordinator for the University of Utah Athletics Department, I developed and implemented a comprehensive prevention, assessment, and treatment policy to guide care for disordered eating among NCAA Division I athletes. I have discussed these recommendations with other providers and am happy to share them with anyone interested.

Personal

Outside of work I spend a lot of time running in the mountains and swimming in alpine lakes. I am former collegiate swimmer and avid trail runner. I also love chasing my cats around my apartment and hanging with friends on my porch.
